
Rubicon Bay
Rubicon Bay is located down the westshore of
Lake Tahoe, where the water is so stunning it takes your breath away. The large boulders in the water add a unique touch and create spell bounding picture taking opportunities.
DL Bliss State Park is also located here with water access and a campground. There is a trail that hugs the cliff over looking the water and leads you to another pristine spot-
Emerald Bay.
D.L. Bliss and
Emerald Bay State Parks cover six miles of
Lake Tahoe’s shoreline. The
Rubicon Trail, hugs the mountainside linking the two parks and offers grand views of the lake. The Indians called it the “Lake in the Sky.” These parks offer public access to the lake. For the tree-loving hiker, you will see Red and White Firs, joined by the stately Ponderosa Pine, Jeffrey Pine and Incense Cedar. You will also see Aspens and Maples. For the flower lovers keep an eye out for Monkeyflower, Columbine, Lupine and Leopard Lily. The location is central to either continue heading south to
South Lake Tahoe or back north to
Tahoe City. The terrain of the
Rubicon Bay area rises up quickly from the water to create areas of breathtaking views of the lake and great places to hike.

Rubcion Trail for the 4x4 enthusiasts:
The Off road trail called the
Rubicon Trail is an extreme 4x4 rock crawling trail who’s trailhead is located on the Westshore of Lake Tahoe. You make a turn off of Highway 89 onto
McKinney Rubicon Springs Road and follow the signs while you meander through a very pleasant neighborhood of primary and vacation homes. The street are wide for easy walking and the surrounding mountains rise up to create a wonderful sight. Back to the 4x4 trail, it is apx 12 miles long and ends up in Georgetown, located in the Western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountain in the “Gold Country”.
